Frequently asked questions
Short, honest answers to the things people ask most. Can't find yours? Reply to any email from us.
Do I need an account to sign a PDF?
No. Signing a PDF yourself runs entirely in your browser — you can do it without an account, and the file is never uploaded to our server. You only need an account to send a document to someone else for signature and to track it afterwards.
What is included in the free plan?
Unlimited self-signing (always free), plus 3 signature requests per month. Your monthly quota resets on the same day each month, and self-signing stays unlimited the whole time.
How much does Pro cost, and what do I get?
Pro is $12/month or $120/year and includes unlimited signature requests for one seat. Business is $24/month for up to three seats. There is no hidden envelope cap — unlimited means unlimited.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Any paid subscription can be refunded within 30 days, for any reason, no questions asked — one refund per account, and it returns you to the free plan. We also email you 7 days before every renewal charge, and you can cancel anytime with no cancellation fee.
Will you charge me without warning?
No. We email you 7 days before any renewal charge (and 30 days before an annual renewal). If you cancel before the charge, you are not billed and keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
Is a document signed with FairSign legally valid?
Electronic signatures are legally recognized in most countries — for example under the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA, and the EU's eIDAS regulation. Each document completed through a signature request includes a Certificate of Completion (signer, timestamp, IP, device, and the SHA-256 of the file) plus a PAdES seal and an RFC3161 timestamp, which is the kind of evidence these laws expect. FairSign is a tool, not a law firm; for high-stakes agreements consult a lawyer about the requirements where you live.
What happens to my files? Are they private?
Files you sign yourself never leave your device — they are processed in your browser. Files you send for signature are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are automatically deleted 30 days after the request is completed. We do not sell your data or read your documents.
Can I cancel a signature request after sending it?
Yes. Open the request from your dashboard and delete it. The signing link stops working immediately and the recipient can no longer open the document. If you only need to fix a typo in the recipient's email, use "fix email" instead, which reissues the link to the corrected address.
Does the other person need to install anything or create an account?
No. They receive a link, open it in any browser, and sign. No app, no account, no sign-up. If two or three people need to sign the same document, they can all sign in parallel — nobody waits in line.
What file types can I use?
PDF. If you have a Word or image file, export or print it to PDF first, then bring it into FairSign.
What are credit packs, and do they expire?
A credit pack is a one-time $7 purchase for 10 signature requests. It is not a subscription and the credits never expire. Packs are handy if 3 free requests a month isn't quite enough but you don't want to subscribe.
How do I add teammates?
On the Business plan you can invite up to three seats. Send an invite from your account settings; the invite link can be used once, and teammates share visibility into the team's documents while quota is counted against the account owner.
Can I reuse the same document without rebuilding it every time?
Yes — save it as a template. Signature and text fields stay where you placed them, so next time you pick the template, type the recipient's email, and send in under a minute.
How do I contact support?
Reply to any email we send you, or write to the support address on our contact page. Paid users get a first response within 24 hours; free users within 48 hours; refund requests are handled within 24 hours.
