E-signatures for real estate
Property runs on signatures collected in a hurry. An offer that sits unsigned overnight is an offer another buyer beats, and a tenant who has to find a printer is a tenant who signs three days late.
FairSign sends a signing link by email. The other party taps it, signs on their phone, and the finished PDF comes back with a Certificate of Completion recording who signed, when and from where.
Self-signing is free, local & private, never uploaded. Sending for signature needs a free account (just your email).
What agents and landlords send through FairSign
- Residential leases and renewals: signed by tenant and guarantor without either coming to the office.
- Purchase offers and counter-offers: the document that most rewards being fast.
- Listing agreements: signed at the kitchen table on a phone, before the seller talks to another agent.
- Disclosure forms: with a timestamped record that the buyer received and acknowledged them.
- Property management agreements: between owner and managing agent.
- Move-in and move-out condition reports: signed by both sides, so deposit disputes have a document rather than two memories.
- Notices to vacate and rent-increase notices: where proof of service matters more than the notice itself.
Where property paperwork goes wrong
- Emailing a PDF and asking the tenant to "print, sign, scan". Most people no longer own a printer, and the delay is measured in days.
- No record of when a disclosure was received. If a buyer later says they never saw it, an audit trail is the only answer.
- Signing links that never expire. FairSign links expire after 30 days, which limits the window in which a forwarded link can be misused.
- Storing signed leases in an email thread. When a dispute arrives two years later, nobody can find the final version.
Common questions
Are electronically signed leases legally valid?
In most jurisdictions yes, and e-signed leases are now standard practice. A small number of places still require wet ink for tenancies over a certain length or for deeds: worth checking locally before relying on it for a long lease or a transfer of title.
Does the tenant need an account?
No. They open the link, sign, and are done. No app, no signup, no password. That single fact is usually the difference between signing today and signing next week.
Can I sign my own documents without uploading them?
Yes, and it is free on every plan. Self-sign mode opens and re-saves the PDF entirely inside your browser, the file never reaches our servers, which matters when the document carries a client's financial details.
